Cisco Authorized Learning Partners are the only companies allowed and enabled to deliver Cisco authorized training to customers and partners using Cisco official material.
Unfortunately, there are other companies on the market positioning themselves as authorized, using Cisco branding and other means to promote their offerings. 1. What is Cisco Authorised Training?

Cisco works with a network of authorised training companies called Cisco Learning Partners.  These companies are exclusively authorised to deliver official Cisco training and have a direct contract with Cisco.  There are two levels of Learning Partner, Cisco Learning Associate (CLA), and Cisco Learning Partner Specialized (CLPS).   CLPS is the highest level of Learning Partner.  To participate in the Learning Partner Program, applicants have to adhere to rigorous compliance in areas such as Instructor capability, customer satisfaction and to demonstrate a broad range of technical skills and offerings.   Only Cisco Learning Partners have access to official Cisco training materials and have the approved skills and capabilities required to deliver the training effectively. Cisco strongly recommends that all Customers, Partners and Cisco Employees only use Cisco Learning Partners as providers for Cisco training.  Furthermore, Cisco Learning Credits are only redeemable though Cisco Learning Partners.


2. What is Non-authorised training?
Cisco defines non-authorised training as Cisco training that is sold by an organisation that  does not have a training agreement with Cisco or training delivered by a Learning Partner outside the scope of the Cisco Learning Partner program.


3. Is Cisco’s strategy to take action against all non-authorised Cisco training companies?
No.  Cisco will only take action against companies that are deemed to have a high business impact on Cisco, Cisco Partners and Customers.   These companies would need to be infringing Cisco policy by using Cisco intellectual property, Cisco logos or claim to have any affiliation with Cisco.


4. What are non-authorised training companies not permitted to do?
Non-authorised Cisco training companies are not permitted to use Cisco course materials or intellectual property.  They cannot claim to have Cisco certified instructors or offer official Cisco courses such as certifications or specialisations.   They cannot use Cisco logos or claim in any way to have a partnership or agreement with Cisco.  Companies that already have a partnership with Cisco (e.g. Cisco Channel Partners) cannot claim to have an official Cisco training practise. 


5. What should I do if a Cisco Learning Partner is operating a non-authorised practise?
If an authorised Cisco Learning Partner (CLPS, or CLA) is delivering Cisco training outside the scope of their agreement (for example operating in a theatre where they do not have a contract), the appropriate Learning Partner Channel Manager should be informed.


6. What should I do if a Cisco certified Instructor is delivering non-authorised training?
If a CCSI is using their certified instructor status with a non-authorised training company, the Learning Partner Channel Manager that manages their associated Learning Partner or LP Programs team should be contacted.  If the individual is not associated with a Learning Partner their CCSI status is void.  In this situation a case should be raised via GSTS (see below).

7. What should I do if a Channel Partner is operating a non-authorised training practise?
If a Cisco Channel Partner is delivering non-authorised Cisco training (as described above, using Cisco IP, logos etc) when they do not have a Cisco Learning Partner agreement, contact needs to be made with the Channel Account Manager who should request that they cease any non-authorised training activity.   If there is no CAM for the Partner a case should be raised vis GSTS. 8. What should I do if a NetAcad is operating a non-authorised training practise?

If a Cisco Networking Academy is operating a non-authorised commercial training practise outside the scope of the Networking Academy program, the NetAcad team should be contacted to resolve the issue directly with the NetAcad by the Cisco Learning Partner Channels team.  Please raise a case with GSTS as per guidelines.


9. What should I do if a non-authorised company is delivering Cisco training?

If a non-authorised training company is delivering Cisco training a case may be raised via GSTS.  The GSTS team will respond to the person that raised the case (internal or external) and will escalate to the legal advisory council where appropriate.   Cases will only be escalated if the company in question is using Cisco IP, Cisco course materials, claiming to have Cisco authorised instructors, using inappropriate Cisco logo or branding  or claiming to have a Learning partnership with Cisco.  Cases are escalated based on this criteria and the overall business impact to Cisco, Cisco Partners and Customers.


10. Can a Learning Partner open a case with GSTS?
Yes – if a Learning Partner would like to make a complaint about a non-authorised training company they should first raise a case with GSTS.


11. How do you raise a case with GSTS?

12. What happens once a case is raised?

When a case is raised, it will be reviewed by trained GSTS representatives and forwarded to the legal advisory council where appropriate.


13. Will the person that raised the case get a response from Cisco?

Yes, all cases will receive a response from Cisco.   Cisco is not however obliged to provide details of any legal decision or actions that are taken regarding the case.


14. What is the role of the Legal Advisory Council?

The role of the Legal Advisory Council is to review non-authorised training cases that have been raised via GSTS each month.    The council is a cross functional team with representation from LPC, Brand Protection and Cisco Legal.  The council decides which cases need to be escalated and actioned based on the non-authorised training policy and on business impact.  The council’s decisions are final.   The council will decide if legal intervention is required and will track the progress of cases where legal intervention has already occurred.


15. Will Cisco legal respond to all cases raised though GSTS?

No.  Only cases that have been prioritised based on their business impact to Cisco, Cisco Partners and Customers will be reviewed.  Cisco does not have the capacity to conduct a legal review of every case globally.


16. Can I participate in the Legal Advisory Council?

The Legal Advisory Council consists of representatives from all relevant business functions and theatres and is not open to additional members unless it is deemed necessary by the core team.


17. How can I reduce the impact of non-authorised training?
